Liftoff% and Touchdown%

There are two really useful integration parameters when using the Apex Track algorithmLiftoff% and Touchdown%.

They come in handy when your peaks show tailing or fronting.

📖 According to Empower Help:

Liftoff% is a threshold used to determine the peak start.

Touchdown% is a threshold used to determine the peak end.

👉 In simple words — Liftoff% defines where your peak starts, and Touchdown% where it ends.

You can set both from 0 to 100%.

  • At 100%, the start and end points will be placed at the inflection points of the peak (roughly at half-height).
  • The higher the value, the narrower the peaks get.

🔍 Normally we use values under 1% to fine-tune the baseline positioning without affecting peak detection.

Interesting fact:

These parameters don’t exist in the Traditional algorithm. There, you’d have to adjust Threshold to make peaks “slimmer” — but that risks missing small peaks.

In Apex Track, adjusting Liftoff% and Touchdown% only changes the start and end points of the peaks — it doesn’t affect whether a peak is detected.

Super useful for precise baseline placement!

💡 Tip: It’s fun to play with these values and watch how your integration changes. You’ll quickly see how powerful they are.
