Default Strings

If you’re working in a GMP environment, you need to add a comment to (almost) every action you perform in Empower.

But why? 🤔

Because comment fields explain the reason behind your action.

✔️ Changed a method? → Maybe there was a mistake, or integration parameters had to be adjusted to fit the chromatogram.

✔️ Processed a sample set? → Could be routine evaluation, correcting an error, or reprocessing after manual integration.

👉 What you do is always traceable in Empower. But why you do it is only clear if you document it.

Of course, entering comments can feel repetitive and even a bit annoying – especially when you’re typing the same routine notes over and over again.

That’s where the Default Strings function comes in handy:
  • You can predefine standard comments that appear in a dropdown list.
  • They apply across all projects (not project-specific).
  • You can still add custom text on top of a default comment.

✨ Benefits:
  • Saves time ⏳
  • Makes comments more consistent and “clean” 📝
  • Ensures analysts use the same wording for the same actions

🔧 How to set it up:

Go to Configuration Manager > View > Default Strings, choose a category, and add your predefined strings.

⚠️ Important: This should be done by admins, not regular analysts.
