Amounts

When we perform quantitative analyses like Assay in Empower, we calculate Amounts for our samples based on a calibration curve built from standard injections. But how exactly does Empower do that?

Let’s break it down:

📏 Amounts for Standards:
Amount = Value × Purity × Sample Weight / Dilution

✔️ Value — entered for each component in the Component Editor in your Sample Set

✔️ Purity — optional, also entered in the Component Editor – in %, Empower converts it internally to a decimal (if empty, 100% is assumed)

✔️ Sample Weight & Dilution — values from Sample Set columns (default is 1)

👉 You must enter Values for standards to build a calibration curve. The other parameters act as optional multipliers for your calculation.

📏 Amounts for Samples:
Amount = Value × Dilution / Sample Weight

✔️ Value — calculated from the calibration curve based on the sample’s peak area

✔️ Dilution & Sample Weight — taken from the Sample Set (can also be left at 1)

👉 Same as with standards — you can treat Sample Weight and Dilution as optional variables to adjust your final result.
