When I create a new 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 in Empower, the first thing I do is define the 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀.

👉 Right-click in your report method > 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 or go to Edit > Method Properties.

Here’s what I usually set:

🔹 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲 – For a summary of all results, pick “Summary by All” – in most cases, that’s what we want (check my post from 07 May on Report Method types).

🔹 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Portrait or Landscape. Applies to the whole report, not individual pages (unlike Word 😉).

🔹 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗽-𝘁𝗼-𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 – super helpful! I personally use User Defined Grid 100×2000 with purple dots 🟣. The dots won’t show in your report – they just help to align objects perfectly.

There is also a setting for:

🔸 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 (𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝘀) – but no sense to activate it now – do this at the very end, before saving your report method. Sign-offs auto-enable whenever you make changes, so no need to do it upfront.
