Project Comments

When you create a new project in Empower, you get to decide how comments work. This is one of those small settings that can make a big difference in a GMP lab.

You have three modes to pick from: Silent, Restricted, and Unrestricted, and you can set them individually for Method, Result, Sample, and Deletion.

  • Silent – No comment required, no field to type in. Even if you want to type something, you won’t be able to. Not recommended for GMP environments 😬
  • Restricted – A comment is required, but you can only pick from the dropdown list (see my post about Default Strings from 2 September).
  • Unrestricted – You must enter a comment, but you can type your own, pick from the list, or adjust a default comment. My favorite! Flexible, practical, and yes, you can even type a single dot if you just want to click through.

⚠️ Important: Once the project is created, you can’t change this setting.

💡 Bonus tip:

If you want to make life easier across all new projects, you can set default comment behavior in System Policies: Configuration Manager > View > System Policies > New Project
